Sleeping Bear Dunes
On the shores of Lake Michigan, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore protects 35 miles of beaches, the Sleeping Bear Dunes Wilderness, and South and North Manitou Islands. Coastal and perched dunes, glacial landforms, inland lakes, and temperate forests provide habitat for many species of wildlife and plants. An Island lighthouse, US Life-Saving Service stations, and historic villages and farming districts relate its rich stories. The Lakeshore's vast resources are open for all to explore!
